New to forum from Boulder USA Past Owner of 74 & 76 Gordini

Hello all,

My name is Steve Diamond and I am new to the forum. Back in the 70's my family owned a 73 Renault 15 and a 74 Renault 17 Gordini and after the 74 was total in an accident a 76 with the discoverable top.

Here is the only picture I have of the 76  



I have joined this group to see the beautiful cars that many of you own and also hope to find a seller of a Phase 1 R17 TS or Gordini.

If anyone knows of a very very nice car, please do let me know.

In the meantime I will enjoy this great forum and hope one day to find another 17.

My brother just moved to Lausanne so I do have a family member to help look at a car if we find one.

Few weeks ago, a very nice restored Gordini was on sale in Florida.
Perharps you have seen it on ebay ?

Thank you all very much for the kind welcome.

Boulder is in Colorado, near Denver.

I grew up in Miami Florida and did see Alberto's car on ebay. In fact I have spoke with Alberto and he found another Gordini a 79, bt I was not able to follow up quick enough.

My dream car would be a late phase 1 17TS or Gordini.

I saw last year a 17 TS in Sweden which was very close in Spec to my dream car, but it is always timing. I just sold a car which now makes room for the 17 so I am ready to go.

My 76 I had made my dream car. It had an Ansa exhaust, I had later put the bumpers from a US Spec 73 R17 on the car, which was very close to the lighter US spec bumpers, I forgot which alloy wheels I had, I think they were BWA though, custom interior also.

The only reason I lost this car was my father was using it and got into an accidenet and destroyed the car beyond repair.  

I replaced it with a 82 Scirocco but always missed the Gordini, was truly a one of a car kind and so far above all the other cars in its category in the day.

I truly thank those who offer to help. It seems like owning one of these cars is hard even in France, next to impossible in the US.

Months before I joined this forum

I have it posted on the Renault US Forum, very little activity on this forum.

The other picture from 1981 looks very close to my car, but sadly it is not me or my car, my car was destroyed in an accident.

Still would love to find a replacement.

I look forward to pictures. I do not actually own the 17 yet so I have not taken the door panel off and look at reducer boxes.

I know this will sound crazy But I will start buying parts for the ar before I get it. This will I will have some spares.

I am pretty sure the car will need an alternator

Does anyone know if this one will be good replacement?

Well yesterday was a great day.

My 1973 1313 was delivered to me by two very very nice young man who delivered her from California.

I and my mechanic will be going through her, but as you can see she is very nice condition.

I do need help finding parts. Michel Bizet has been wonderful help.

Thank for the advise, and funny for me note, as I was in the back of my class for French, in Florida, so no radiator, just the huge fan!

I use Google translate much better than the 20 words of French I remember. So sad

I will wait for Michel to get back, I think I read he has a solution for the seal.

I appreciate the offer of help I truly need help finding dash switches.

If anyone has any power window, headlight, emergency flasher or other dashboard switches for sale I am intersted, especially what we in the US call New Old Stock.

Steve recherche des boutons lève-vitres, également le commodo de phares, et éventuellement tout autre interrupteur de tableau de bord.

Le New Old Stock, c'est du vieux en état neuf.

Mon problème est lorsque je tente de recherche Je pourrais écrire ce que je suis à la recherche pour incorrect. Ensuite, la recherche ne fonctionne pas.
